As the name of the award suggests, this award is truly an outcome of the public choice that earned WizIQ this award in the category, “Best Innovation in Open and Distance Learning”. Cast your vote for WizIQ at the World Education Awards, 2011

We are glad to announce that WizIQ has been nominated for the World Education Awards, 2011. We would be more than happy if you cast your valuable vote for WizIQ and make it a strong contender for the World Education Public Choice Award at World Education Awards 2011.

Voting online is simple. Just follow the steps below to vote:

1. Visit this link: http://worldeducationsummit.net/Voting/Default.aspx

On clicking the link, you will see a form as shown in the image below.
Fill in the form on the page and click on the submit button.

Please note that the screenshots below are just illustrations to show how the voting works. You would need to go to the voting page to cast your vote.

2. Check your email inbox for the voting link and click on it (check for the email with subject, “Link for World Education Awards Voting”).

3. On clicking the link in your email, a web page with listed categories will appear.

Now go to the “Private Sector Initiative” category (4th section on the page) and click on the the sub-category (4th link from bottom), “Best Innovation in Open and Distance Learning”.

4. After you click on the the sub-category, “Best Innovation in Open and Distance Learning”, the voting form (below is an example) will appear.

Select the option for www.WizIQ.com and click on the submit button to cast your vote.

Online English Speaking Course on WiZiQ

WiZiQ is working with Nellie on an Online English Speaking Course, targeted at non-native speakers. We do plan to bring courses functionality on WiZiQ soon. We are evaluating different course features and architecture right now. Communities and the Power of Crowdsourcing : ET Conference 2 on WiZiQ.com

The second edition of ETCon will be conducted on WiZiQ.com : August 27, 2009 at 1:00 PM GMT.

ETCon is the Educational Technology Conference conducted by E-Teachers Academy. The E-Teachers Conference is a monthly meeting of leaders in the education 2.0 industry hosted by Kirsten Winkler, Founder of the E-Teachers Academy. Teachers : Schedule a Public Class on WiZiQ the Easy Way

Public Online Classes are a great way to be noticed, get feedback on your teaching style, make contacts, showcase your work and increase your visibility on Google and WiZiQ. There are two ways to schedule a public online class on WiZiQ:

1. Apply for a public online class
2. If you have access you can create your own public classes

A few teachers have access to create public classes [point 2 above]. Applying for a public class meant someone contacted you, checked the information and then scheduled the class. Starting today, we are making the process simpler. From today on WiZiQ, all "teachers" would be able to schedule a public online class from the same interface that you schedule a private online class.

You can select "Public" option under "Privacy", if you want to schedule a public online class. Fill in the information like you do for your public class [we recommend at least 300 words for your self and 300 words for your class as well as at least 5 relevant tags] and select a date/ time [at least 48 hours or later], and that's it. For the first few public classes you conduct, we will approve the class. This is to ensure that good quality class is being offered to the students and miscreants do not take advantage of the open window with content, not appropriate for children. However, after a first few classes, we are happy to give you the control and not require approval.

ASCI Event "Beyond Introductory Agile" LIVE on WiZiQ

WiZiQ is going to cover Live the presentations of Agile Software Community of India (ASCI) event. The event is "Beyond Introductory Agile" and is being hosted by Agile Chandigarh chapter of ASCI and is sponsored by Quark. The event would be held at Quark Campus, Mohali and would be live on WiZiQ as well. This is the first such initiative of its kind and goes with the ASCI mission of bringing knowledge about Agile software development to anyone who wants to know about it. The live event schedule is as follows:

• The first session is by Mayank Gupta. Mayank would discuss some of his approaches regarding Distributed Development and Agile. Mayank's rich experience in working with distributed teams and GlobalLogic, a company known for Agile Innovation, would provide insight on this topic. • The second session is by Vikrama Dhiman. Vikrama is a Certified Scrum Master and would provide a basic introduction to Lean Thinking. WiZiQ has more details about session and registration here:  Introduction to Lean Thinking.

If you are unable to catch the recordings live or attend the event, we have good news for you. The recordings would be available after the event as well. This will allow users who are unable to make it to the event to view the sessions as per their convenience. In the future also, WiZiQ will bring you more Public sessions on Agile and other topics of interest to various professional communities.
